| Tritonus is based in Copenhagen and was
founded in 1971 by John Høybye, who was the
conductor for 35 years. In the autumn 2006 the conductor Nishiki Sano took
over. For many years now Tritonus
has held a leading position among Danish choirs. The choirs repertoire spans from
classical music to contemporary style music (Latin, afro, jazz). The choir has performed
all over Europe, in Israel, China, Japan and USA. In April 2006 we were
invited to Brazil by Instituto Curitiba de Arte e Cultura On two occasions Tritonus has participated in European choir competitions - both times with splendid results. At the international choir competition in Maasmechelen in Belgium in 1993, Tritonus was awarded Second Prize among 60 choirs from all over Europe. In 1995 Tritonus was invited to participate along with 63 other choirs (from among more than 200 applicants) in the distinguished choir competition in Budapest - The 5th International Choir Competition - and was awarded First Prize. In 1999 Tritonus was invited to participate in the Duke Ellington Centiennal Festival where Sacred Concert was performed in The Union Temple Baptist Church, Washington DC and afterwards in Saint Peter's Church - Manhattan, New York City. Tritonus gives 10-12 concerts annually
all over Denmark. |
